A Mad Decent Block Party
When spending money on countless shows favorite artists we want to see each year, the costs really begin to add up. As lovers of music and live performance, it is important to feel like the events we are excited to attend will live up to all of our expectations. One production forerunner, Mad Decent, organizes many shows each year with a level of entertainment and excitement worth noting. The Mad Decent Record Label is home to a vast stretch of international and local artists from Crookers, Dillon Francis, and Clockwork, to Bauuer, Gent & Jawns, and Flosstradamus, to Zeds Dead and more. Mad Decent was started by Wesley Pents, better known as Diplo, a DJ from Mississippi who released his debut album Florida in 2004. Being an influential artist himself throughout the club circuit, Diplo and the Mad Decent Label have assisted in bringing marginalized music from the underground to the music scene’s forefront. Under the label, Diplo and his fellow artists, referred to as ‘Diplo and Friends’, have spread their message of support for innovation and the “up and coming” by beginning Heaps Decent. Heaps Decent is a relief program assisting children in Australia and engaging in other international relief efforts. Under the Mad Decent Label, Diplo and Friends have begun an entertainment movement, performing across the country at various festivals and venues, loaded with musical talent.
For the past 6 years, Mad Decent has thrown their nationally known Mad Decent Block Party. Mad Decent Block Party is an all-ages event that travels cross-country and internationally to showcase a one-day music festival to big time, enormous audiences throughout the summer. The Block Party’s 2014 master lineup includes artists like Outkast, A$ap Ferg, Big Gigantic, Chance the Rapper, Chrome Sparks, RL Grime, STRFKR, What So Not and Zeds Dead. Beginning in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on July 26, and ending in Vancouver, BC on August 21, Mad Decent Block Party will be bringing a specialized lineup to each city of hand-selected artists from the event’s principal artist pool. On August 22, the 2014 Mad Decent Block Party will be hitting Colorado’s very own Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Denver. The Denver Block Party will be featuring Outkast, Flosstradamus, Griz and more, with two secret additions to be revealed closer to the show date.
Following the successes of the Block Party over the past few years, Mad Decent has decided to expand the celebration into winter by announcing the first ever Mad Decent Boat Party. This water locked festival event is scheduled to set sail November 12-16, 2014 on the Norwegian Pearl cruise ship. The Boat Party will be carrying Borgore, Big Gigantic, Trippy Turtle, Kill the Noise, Brazzabelle, Bixel Boys, Bro Safari, Chashmere Cat, Dillon Francis, and many more across the Caribbean, with you, on this five day adventure. Traveling from Miami to Nassau, the Boat Party will be bringing music across the seas, stopping at Great Stirrup Cay for an exclusive Mad Decent Beach Party on a private island in the Bahamas. The Mad Decent Boat Party 2014 is 21 and up, however, minors are permitted if accompanied by an adult. The Boat Party will be an extravagant musical getaway with exotic scenery featuring some of today’s most popular artists.
