After the release of his “career defining” and aptly titled single, "Momentum," Australian DJ/producer Hook N Sling joins Arty and Destructo in the Insomniac / Interscope Records family this week and reveals his first release. Out today, March 23rd, Hook’s next single sees him team up with electro-rap lords Far East Movement for the unexpected and infectious, "Break Yourself."

In fact, ‘unexpected and infectious’ has become somewhat of a motif of Hook’s in the past few years. Going back to his first breakout single "Take You Higher" with Angus & Julia Stone he meshed folk-blues and main room house, emotions and energy, to make an all-time classic. The catch-cry "Reason" with NERVO and the goose bump-inducing "Tokyo By Night" with Karin Park continued in this spirit, and served as landmarks not only in Hook’s discography but also the evolving electronic scene. More than any other, "Break Yourself" exemplifies his unique ability to strike this balance of sounds, genres, cultures and emotions with broad appeal.

Now an honorary Angeleno, Hook provides a simple yet satisfying bass groove that rolls beneath the K-Town heroes’ classic and upbeat west coast rap. The result is fresh, fun, and oozing with time and place, and sees Hook continue to push his sound and the scene forward.

More info on Hook N Sling:

You might have heard of a badass little place in Australia that goes by the name of Bondi Beach. It’s a gem of a spot on the map, well known for its laid back lifestyle and surfer-ready waves. But there’s something else this sweet coastal hangout is recognized for producing – and that’s one of Australia’s most promising DJ/producers, Hook N Sling.

Yet while this talent hails from what you might call a more-than-mellow scene, it would be a mistake to equate his music as such. On the contrary, the ARIA-nominated Hook N Sling’s ascent has been single-mindedly driven, and backed by meticulously crafted and ever-evolving productions.

Making his biggest early splash was the gold-selling, Hype Machine-topping, YouTube 10-million-spinning 'Take You Higher' (with Goodwill), re-imagining Angus & Julia Stone's "Big Jet Plane" in an unexpected mesh of folk-blues and main room house. A year later his breakout #2 Beatport single 'Reason' (with NERVO) made more waves and became a catch-cry anthem for the dance floor (and notched up another 10m+ Youtube count).

Most recently Hook turned heads with a genre-defying and rather aptly-titled weapon named 'Momentum.’ The track was dubbed a 'career-defining track' by Earmilk and 'one of the most pivotal tracks of the year' by Insomniac.

Pushing Through The Pavement- The Polish Ambassador

The one of a kind Polish Ambassador recently dropped the first few tracks of his new album, Pushing Through the Pavement. His dedicated fans had high expectations for this album, and so far, they have not been disappointed. The album artwork depicts a beautiful abstract brain with unique swirling decorations, separating power lines and city pollution one on side and windmills and futuristic dome houses on the other. This artwork is a powerful visual representation of the Ambassadors philosophy and the messages contained within his music. Polish is a huge advocate for a progressive, self-sustaining society that thrives off of music, art, and creative expression. This message could not be more clear than it is in the first  tracks of Pushing Through the Pavement. Polish is strategically dropping the tracks one by one, cultivating anticipation and excitement in his fans.

Lost & Found was instantly a huge hit – he really added a unique flare to this track with the addition of wind flutes, adding another dimension to his already one of a kind up beat dance-able music. Ayla’s vocals on this track are incredible, as usual. Prayer for Rain is another track that has taken his fans by surprise – this album is incredible because his music preserves his personality and distinct personal sound, while adding a unique flare. This album is unlike any of his other stuff, each song is a piece of the story and the overall mood is far more chilled out and deeply touching.

Pushing Through the Pavement is also one of a kind because of the diverse selection of instruments that are incorporated into each track, creating a unique collaboration that has not yet been explored this deeply in the Ambassadors music.  Prayer for Rain features the beautiful elegance of violin and guitar, Wait for the One That’s Special incorporates beautiful melodies on the flute, Lost and Found is complemented by a wind flute, and Gathering of the Tribes is mostly electronic but seems to be inspired by tribal drums. All in all, each of Polish’s albums seems to build on the last. Pushing Through the Pavement is available for free on Soundcloud, check it out today!
